Our purpose is to care and work for those who need the most attention, support, and assistance wherever they may be. ForgetMeNot International hopes to speak for the voiceless, to advocate for those who have no representation, and to ensure that the global community pays attention to, understands, and positively acts for those in the most need.
We are an apolitical humanitarian organisation focusing on orphans around the world in order to create meaningful public dialogue, exchange, and action for the urgent needs of the most vulnerable. Even though they are the most defenseless members of society, orphans are often stigmatized and marginalized. With a child-centred, child rights-based approach to decision-making, planning, implementation and advocacy, decisions are made in the best interests of the children and involve their constructive participation.
This once-diverse and bountiful land has been ravaged by violence and discord. Afghanistan was once the land of heroes, honor, dignity, and hospitality. Three decades of war in Afghanistan have left over 2 million orphans and abandoned children across the country and more than 50 per cent of Afghanistan’s population of 24 million people is under 18. Up to 30 per cent of primary school age children are working and are often the sole source of income for their families. In this nation in which 1 child dies every 2 minutes, the children have already suffered the terrors of trafficking, sexual abuse, and horrendous degradation and deprivation.
